The Big Green Egg Acacia Shelves are sustainably sourced from well-managed forests and are perfect for increasing outdoor prep space. They can be easily fixed onto your Big Green Egg MiniMax and clip on and off the Carrier’s handles with ease when not in use. The shelves have high-quality joints and slot into the built-in hooks beneath the band of your Egg and have no visible screws from above. Strong and durable, the shelves are unaffected by temperature and humidity changes and are lightly coated with UV stabilised oil to prevent fading.

The pack contains 2 Acacia Shelves, with inner hooks that connect to the band on the Egg as well as outer hooks that are ideal to hang your Big Green Egg utensils on, so you can cook up a feast with ease.

History:

Founded in 1974 by Ed Fischer, The Big Green Egg derives from a simple idea with an ancient lineage. It’s an updated iteration of a commonplace Asian rice cooker: the kamado, a Japanese word that translates as “place for the cauldron.” The Egg’s modern design, which uses durable ceramics, is traced to the Chinese Qin Dynasty and then used by the Japanese beginning in the third century. Ed Fischer discovered the apparatus, like many servicemen of his generation, during his travels in Asia as a Navy engineer. He then imported them from Japan to sell domestically. Later, he designed a more durable version using ceramics designed by NASA. The first EGGs were manufactured in the mid-1990s at a factory in Mexico, which continues to manufacture EGGs to this day.
