The Horse Head Bottle Stopper from Le Potier D’Etain are hand-crafted from the finest, dining quality pewter in France. A playful spin on a bottle stopper, the pewter is moulded into the shape of a horse head, where the cork base seals any bottle of wine and Champagne. The unique stopper enhances any bottle to look beautiful on your bar cart, whilst keeping your wine or Champagne fresh. The pewter alloy is crafted from 95% pure tin and makes a perfect gift, pairing excellently with a bottle.

Highly regarded as the finest purveyors of French pewter, Le Potier D’Etain carry a range of household objects that are hand-moulded and hand-finished in their workshop in the South-East of France.

Le Potier d’Etain was established by the Brassac family, master pewter-smiths for six generations based in the village of Bourg de Péage in South-East France. The Brassac’s were inspired by Louis XIV, who sold his gold and silver tableware for pewter, to finance his battles and the construction of the Versailles. This led to the family becoming pewter potters in Auvergne, France, where the family would visit each village making tableware from their wooden barrow on demand.

In 1952, the Brassac family’s craftsmanship was recognised by all, after François Brassac, having learnt the skill from his father, started his business. He became Master Pewter Potter and created his own hallmarks, which are still present on each object today. The company have recently been accredited as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV, Living Heritage Company) – a widely recognised honour in France.
