This Laguiole Gourmet Knife block is a collection made of 6 kitchen knives:
• 25cm bread knife
• 25cm chef’s knife
• 20cm chef’s knife
• 20cm filetting knife
• 15cm chef’s knife
• 10cm paring knife
Each wooden handles is made from a different wood; boxwood, ebony, olivewood, walnut, prune and wenge. The traditional fly and the shepherd’s cross also appear on the handle of each knife which is also decorated with a hand-carved stainless steel collar recalling the traditional Laguiole pocket knife.
Laguiole originated in the 1920s in the village of the same name; a small mountain settlement of the Aveyron in Southwestern France. Inspired by the Hispanic ‘Navaja’ and their local knife, the ‘Capouchadou’, they created Laguiole Knives. Each knife is designed, built, bolstered, sharpened, polished and finished by hand from start to finish, resulting in a unique and exceptional knife that is guaranteed to last a lifetime.
